He is With You
The LORD was with Joseph, and he [even though a slave] became a successful and prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. —Genesis 39:2 (AMP)
When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. He realized that the LORD was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. So He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. Potiphar’s wife began to look at him lustfully. She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her. Eventually, she accused him of attempting to rape her and Joseph was thrown in prison. (See Genesis 39:1-4, 7, 10, 14, 19-20) “But the LORD was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the LORD made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.” (Genesis 39:21 NLT) “The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The LORD was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.” (Genesis 39:23 NLT)
Everything that happens in your life will not appear to be good, but we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. (See Romans 8:28) The key thing to remember is that whether you are in a palace, a prison or a pit, Yahweh is with you. The presence of the One Who is above it all, is the significant factor. The “Who” is more important than the “where.” The question is: Are we with Him? Do the intentions of your heart, your actions, and the words that come out of your mouth align with His Word and His ways?
Let us examine and probe our ways, and let us return to the LORD. —Lamentations 3:40 (NASB1995)
