Our Provider & Protector
“Meanwhile, the people of Israel settled in the region of Goshen in Egypt. There they acquired property, and they were fruitful, and their population grew rapidly.” —Genesis 47:27 (NLT)
What an amazing and faithful God! Yahweh caused His people to multiply and be fruitful in the midst of a severe famine. After the Egyptians ran out of money to buy food, they exchanged their livestock and cattle. Then, they sold their land because the famine was so severe. Eventually they became Pharaoh’s servants. (See Genesis 47:14-25) At the same time, God caused His people to prosper in Goshen.
Yahweh shows Himself faithful to the word He spoke to Jacob in Genesis 46:3 (NLT). Before Jacob arrived in Egypt, God said to Jacob: “I am God, the God of your father,” the voice said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation.” May we not fix our eyes on external circumstances, but always look to our great and awesome God. He is our Source and His supply is limitless.
If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. —Psalms 91:9-11 (NLT)
