“The God Who Sees”

Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are God Who Sees”; for she said, “Have I not even here [in the wilderness] remained alive after seeing Him [who sees me with understanding and compassion]?” Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi (Well of the Living One Who Sees Me); it is between Kadesh and Bered. —Genesis 16:13-14 (AMP)

The Angel of the LORD came to Hagar by a spring of water in the wilderness. She was fleeing from the presence of her mistress Sarai, who was dealing harshly with her, after she conceived a baby with Abram. (See Genesis 16:4-7) Wherever you are today, know that El Roi (the “God Who Sees”), sees you with understanding and compassion. God is full of compassion, and His understanding is infinite. (See Psalms 86:15 & 147:5 NKJV) He has heard your affliction, and just as He had a plan for Hagar and her descendants, He also has a plan for you. (See Genesis 16:10-12)

The LORD has examined your heart and He knows everything about you. He knows when you sit down or stand up. He knows your thoughts even when you’re far away. He sees you when you travel and when you rest at home. He knows everything you do. He knows what you are going to say even before you say it. He goes before you and He also follows you. He has placed His hand of blessing on your head. (See Psalms 139:1-5 NLT) Amen.
